Government cancels ‘Keraleeyam’ citing Wayanad disaster, economic crisis

Thiruvananthapuram: Following the landslide disaster in Wayanad, the Kerala government has decided to cancel this year’s state event, ‘Keraleeyam.’ This decision comes amid the severe financial crisis affecting the state. However, no official announcement has been made yet.

Officials believe that there is no need to collect large amounts of funds by coordinating between various departments. To manage the financial situation better, the government has also decided to reduce project costs by half.

Last November, the ‘Keraleeyam’ programme took place in Thiruvananthapuram, where it was announced that the event would be held annually. However, given the current circumstances, the government has opted to cancel this year's festivities.
