Kasaragod: Kerala government employees no longer need to stand in line at punching machines to mark their attendance. They can now record their attendance using their own mobile phones. To do this, employees must download the Aadhaar Face RD app and the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) app, both available on the Play Store.
To use the app, employees need to upload a clear selfie to ensure that attendance is recorded accurately and no one else can use their account. Attendance can only be marked from within the office or its designated areas.

The new mobile punching system is part of the Biometric Attendance System linked to SPARK, which has been implemented in state government offices. The implemented change aims to address issues like machine breakdowns and long queues that employees have been facing. Many offices have already adopted this new system.
The State IT Cell is coordinating the app's operations, and department heads act as Nodal Officers for its implementation. The application is compatible with Android phones running version 9 and above. However, employees using other smartphones or Chinese-made devices may encounter limitations. Officials explained that these restrictions are in place for security reasons, and the National Informatics Center (NIC) is working on solutions to expand compatibility in the future.
