Kochi: The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has issued a detailed analysis challenging the Hema Committee report and addressing the claims made by the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC).
The analysis dismissed WCC’s claims that its members are being denied opportunities and questioned the report’s assertion of ‘power groups’ and mafia influence in the industry.

FEFKA argues that the Hema Committee did not tackle all issues with equal seriousness, particularly neglecting a thorough investigation into working hours and wage systems. Additionally, FEFKA questions why the committee did not distribute the questionnaire used for gathering statements from WCC members to other film organisations, such as themselves and AMMA.
FEFKA also said that the committee could have investigated the so-called ‘power group’. There are also concerns about the basis on which the committee reached its conclusions.
The analysis also highlights that WCC members, including actress Parvathy Thiruvoth, have worked in over ten films directed by FEFKA members. However, it is noted that these actors sometimes declined roles due to character or inadequate remuneration.
From 2006, when Parvathy Thiruvoth began her film career, to 2018, the year WCC was established, she appeared in 11 films. She continued to act in another 11 films after the formation of WCC. Similarly, Rima Kallingal, who appeared in five films before 2018, acted in seven films and was part of five productions since WCC’s formation.
Other WCC members, such as Sajitha Madathil and Jolly Chirayath, also acted in films directed by FEFKA members, while Vidhu Vincent directed a film as well.
