Allegations of protecting perpetrators: SIT to take statements from former AMMA executives

Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Hema Committee report is set to take statements from former executive members of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). The SIT will visit each former executive directly to gather their statements. The purpose is to determine whether the complaints raised before the Hema Committee were also reported to AMMA.

As part of the investigation, the SIT has been meeting with individuals who previously provided statements to the Hema Committee and is re-recording those accounts. During these interactions, many individuals claimed that the victims had reported their experiences to AMMA, but they felt that no action was taken. Instead, some suggested that the organisation's response seemed more focused on protecting the accused.

The investigation team is currently examining these claims and looking into why such failures occurred within the organisation. If the allegations are found to be true, the SIT intends to hold former AMMA officials legally accountable.
