Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court criticised the state government for its failure to disburse salaries to KSRTC employees. The court questioned the government's stance on employee salaries and whether it was intentionally causing turmoil within KSRTC.

The government's legal representative stated that the finance department is currently investigating the matter. In response, the court questioned why KSRTC employees had to resort to approaching the court each month for their salaries.

Justice Devan Ramachandran directed the government to release Rs 30 crore by the upcoming Thursday to ensure the payment of employees' salaries for the month of July. Additionally, given the ongoing Onam festival, KSRTC requires an additional Rs 10 crore for allowances and related expenses. While KSRTC made this request in court, the High Court instructed the government to prioritise the Rs 30 crore for salaries first and later address the matter of the remaining Rs 10 crore. The court requested an update during the next hearing on Thursday.
