Alappuzha’s new KSRTC business-class bus to Bengaluru to begin service amid strong Onam demand, with its inaugural trip already sold out.
Alappuzha: The KSRTC business-class bus gifted to Alappuzha as an Onam present has arrived in the district. The service will begin on Sunday, and all tickets for the inaugural trip have already been booked following strong demand since reservations opened.
The bus will depart from Alappuzha at 5.30 pm and reach Bengaluru at 5.55 am the following day. The introduction of an interstate bus service has been a long-standing demand in Alappuzha. With the service now being introduced as a business-class facility, the arrival of the bus has been welcomed by residents. KC Venugopal MP will flag off the inaugural journey.

The new bus is expected to be particularly useful for people travelling home during the Onam holiday season. It is a Volvo AC semi-sleeper bus equipped with premium facilities, including toilet facilities.
There are no special trains through Alappuzha during the Onam season, leaving private buses as the main alternative for many travellers. With private bus fares often rising during the festive rush, passengers have been seeking an interstate KSRTC service from Alappuzha for years.
The new service is expected to provide much-needed relief to passengers travelling between Alappuzha and Bengaluru, particularly during the busy Onam travel period.
Meanwhile, passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Kerala for the Onam holidays will have more options, with the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operating 90 special services from August 21 to 25. The buses will connect Bengaluru with major destinations including Kozhikode, Kannur, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Thrissur, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram, while return services to Bengaluru will run on August 30.
The additional services will include premium Rajahamsa, Airavat, Ambari and Pallakki buses, along with air-conditioned services. Passengers can book tickets in advance, with KSRTC offering a 5% discount for bookings of four or more tickets and discounts for return-ticket bookings.
