Thiruvananthapuram: Not everyone is keen on the government proposal to transfer the management of KSRTC to a cooperative administrative committee managed by employees. The proposal was tabled by KSRTC Chairman and Managing Director Biju Prabhakar during a meeting of employee unions.

However, many see this as the state government's attempt to back away from its obligations of overseeing KSRTC. 

Meanwhile, the employee unions point out that the failure of KSRTC was due to the reforms implemented by the officials appointed by the government from time to time. It was in this context that KSRTC MD came up with a proposal to implement a governing body comprising staff. 

However, the government has not made a formal stance or decision on the issue. Employees claim that the government had been pushing for a similar proposal covertly for some time. 

Meanwhile, till March of the fiscal year 2022-23, the government has set aside Rs 1342.13 crore for KSRTC, with Rs 80 crore and Rs 50 crore spent per month on pensions and salaries.
