As part of Census 2027, the self-enumeration facility for the public to log their family details independently will be available from June 16 to 30. Citizens can submit their details via mobile phone or computer through the portal [https://se.census.gov.in](https://se.census.gov.in). The census operations will be conducted in two phases. The first phase involves house listing and the housing census. In Kerala, this phase will take place from July 1 to 30. The second phase, which is the population enumeration, will be carried out around February 2027.

During the first phase, enumerators will prepare a layout map including buildings and major landmarks in each enumeration block. Data collection will be carried out using a mobile application. Before the enumerators visit the houses, the head of the family or any other adult member can submit the details online.

How to submit online

  • Register on the portal and enter details regarding the state, district and the location of the house. Following this, the location of the house can be marked on a digital map and the information can be submitted.
  • After submitting the information, an 11-digit SE ID (Self-Enumeration ID) will be received via SMS and email. It will be sufficient to hand over this number when the enumerator visits.
  • Details such as the building number, census house number, the purpose for which the census house is used, and the household number do not need to be provided online. These will be recorded by officials during their direct visits. If any corrections are required, there will be an opportunity to inform the enumerator.

There are 34 questions in total in the first phase of the census. These include the materials used for the construction of the house's floor, wall and roof, the condition of the house, the number of family members, the name, gender and social category of the head of the household, ownership status of the house, number of dwelling rooms and the number of married couples.

The questionnaire also includes details related to basic amenities such as the source and availability of drinking water, electricity, toilet, bathroom, kitchen, LPG/PNG connection and cooking fuel.

In addition, it covers the availability of radio, television, internet, laptop, computer, mobile phone and smartphone; possession of vehicles like bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, cars, jeeps and vans; the main cereal consumed by the household; and the mobile number.
