Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has assured special leave for all employees, including teachers, assigned for census duty. The census work is scheduled from July 1 to July 30. According to an order issued by the General Administration Department, employees may avail either 10 days of full-day leave or 20 days of half-day leave during the month to complete their census responsibilities.

Initially, officials had orally instructed teachers to conduct the census after school hours to avoid disrupting students' studies. Later, the Director of General Education issued a circular on Tuesday stating that teachers could carry out census work on Saturdays and Sundays and avail compensatory leave before October 31.

However, the new government order supersedes that circular, rendering it invalid.
