Vivo has officially announced the OriginOS 6 update for its smartphones in India, marking the end of the long-standing FunTouch OS. The new software, based on Android 16, introduces a refreshed user experience with enhanced visuals, improved animations, and AI-driven capabilities. The Vivo X300 series will be the first to debut with the update, followed by a phased rollout for older models.

Initially OriginOS was introduced to the Chinese market in 2020. Despite frequent enhancements to its global UI, Vivo continued to rely on FunTouch OS outside China. Now, with the Vivo OriginOS 6 rollout extending to India, users can finally experience the brand’s redesigned interface and smart features firsthand.

What’s new in OriginOS 6

The OriginOS 6 features represent a substantial upgrade over the outgoing FunTouch OS. It introduces a modern notification panel, redesigned quick settings, and improved lockscreen customisation options. Users can expect smoother system animations and transitions across the interface, delivering a more cohesive and fluid user experience.

Vivo has also integrated advanced AI tools into the new platform, making daily interactions smarter and more intuitive. One of the standout additions is Origin Island, a dynamic display area similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, allowing users to view real-time updates and access key app information effortlessly.

Vivo OriginOS 6 rollout timeline

The Vivo Android 16 update OriginOS 6 will be released in multiple phases, beginning early next month. The company has detailed its rollout schedule and eligible devices list for the Indian market.
