Vivo has expanded its V-series lineup in India with the launch of the Vivo V80, bringing a larger battery, Zeiss-branded cameras and a host of AI-powered photography tools to the company's latest smartphone. For now, Vivo has introduced only the standard V80 in India, with no announcement yet about an Elite or Pro variant.

The Vivo V80 starts at Rs 62,999 and targets the premium smartphone segment with a combination of a high-refresh-rate AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, 90W fast charging and IP68/IP69 protection.

Vivo V80 price in India and sale date

The Vivo V80 is priced at Rs 62,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The 8GB+256GB model costs Rs 69,999, while the top-end 8GB+512GB version is priced at Rs 79,999.

Pre-bookings for the smartphone have opened in India, with sales scheduled to begin on October 13 through Vivo's online store, Amazon India, Flipkart and offline retail channels.

The phone is available in Stellar Black, Horizon Blue and Sunrise Anthem colour options.

Vivo V80 display and design

The Vivo V80 features a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a resolution of 2750 x 1260 pixels. The panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate, marking an upgrade over the previous generation.

The display can reach a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, while its high-brightness mode (HBM) reaches 1,800 nits. The 6.59-inch screen places the V80 between the compact and large-phone categories.

The smartphone also gets IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water. Another premium feature is a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a technology more commonly associated with flagship smartphones.

Vivo V80 processor and software

The Vivo V80 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. The processor was also used in the previous-generation V70, so the V80 does not bring a major chipset upgrade.

That could make performance one of the areas where the Vivo V80 faces tougher competition, particularly from similarly priced phones such as the iQOO 15R and OnePlus 15R.

On the software side, the V80 runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. Vivo says the phone will receive four major OS upgrades along with six years of security updates, giving it a relatively long software-support cycle.

Vivo V80 gets the biggest battery in the V-series

The biggest hardware highlight of the Vivo V80 is its 7,200mAh battery, the largest battery capacity offered on a V-series smartphone so far.

The battery is paired with 90W fast charging, giving the phone a combination aimed at long endurance and faster top-ups.

The large battery could be one of the V80's biggest selling points, particularly for users who prioritise battery life over having the most powerful processor in this price range.

Zeiss cameras are the other big highlight

Vivo continues its partnership with Zeiss on the V80, with the phone featuring a multi-camera setup designed around portrait photography and different focal lengths.

The rear camera system includes a 50MP primary sensor with optical image stabilisation, a 50MP telephoto camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies and group shots, the phone gets a 50MP front camera.

The telephoto camera supports focal lengths including 85mm and 100mm for close-up portrait photography.

Vivo has also packed more than 30 AI-powered creative photography features into the phone. These include AI Diwali Portrait 2.0, while the camera system also supports 4K Cinematic video recording.

Vivo V80: Is it worth the price?

At Rs 62,999, the Vivo V80 moves firmly into the premium smartphone category rather than competing primarily with conventional mid-range phones.

Its biggest attractions are the 7,200mAh battery, Zeiss camera system, portrait-focused photography features, 144Hz AMOLED display and IP68/IP69 protection. The 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and long software-support commitment further strengthen its premium positioning.

However, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 remains unchanged from the V70 and could be a concern for buyers looking for maximum performance at this price. With several performance-focused phones competing in and around this segment, the V80's camera experience, battery endurance and design will be central to its appeal.

For buyers who value photography, battery life and a premium design, the Vivo V80 presents an interesting option. But at nearly Rs 63,000, its hardware will need to justify the premium over competing smartphones.
