Nepal: A 36-year-old US citizen was detained at the India-Nepal border after allegedly attempting to cross into Nepal without valid travel documents. Police said he had entered India via a sea route in 2025 after reportedly losing his passport in Thailand.
A US national has been detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) while allegedly attempting to enter Nepal without valid travel documents from the India-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh.

The man, identified as 36-year-old Jordan Brown from California, was stopped during a routine patrol in the Mainihwa area under the Sonauli police station limits near border pillar number 516. Officials said no passport or other valid travel documents were found in his possession.
During questioning, Brown told investigators that he had travelled to Thailand on a tourist visa but lost his passport there. According to police, he then travelled by sea to Sri Lanka before entering India through a sea route in November 2025 without valid immigration documents.
Police said Brown had been living in Goa since entering India and was trying to travel to Nepal when he was intercepted by the SSB.
Additional Superintendent of Police Siddharth said Brown's claims are being verified. A case has been registered against him at the Sonauli Police Station under Sections 21 and 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act for allegedly entering India without valid documents. Further legal proceedings are underway.
The incident comes days after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested five Ukrainian nationals and one US citizen in a separate case involving alleged terrorist and combat training activities in Myanmar. According to the NIA, the accused had entered India on tourist visas before travelling through Mizoram into Myanmar, where they allegedly trained ethnic armed groups in drone warfare and other military technologies. The six are currently in judicial custody while the investigation continues.
