The owner of the Satya Niketan building that collapsed and killed seven people has been apprehended in Rajasthan's Bhiwadi.

Delhi Police said Hariram Gupta was apprehended on Monday and is being examined in connection with the case.

"Hariram Gupta has been apprehended from Bhiwadi. Further examination is ongoing in connection with the case," a police officer said.

The arrest comes a day after the decades-old five-storey building in southwest Delhi's Satya Niketan came crashing down during repair work.

The building was being used as a boys' paying guest accommodation. Seven people have died so far in the collapse, while rescue operations are still underway.
