US President Donald Trump has issued a sharp warning to Iran, saying Washington will take “very strong action” if Tehran proceeds with hanging protesters amid its ongoing crackdown on nationwide unrest.

US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran on Tuesday, saying the United States would take “very strong action” if Tehran proceeds with reported plans to hang anti-government protesters amid one of the country’s deadliest internal crises in decades.
The comments come as Iran faces widespread unrest and an escalating death toll from brutal crackdowns on demonstrators.

Trump made the remarks during an interview with CBS News while visiting a manufacturing plant in Michigan, emphasising that the US response would be significant if executions of detainees are carried out.
“We will take very strong action if they do such a thing,” he said, adding when pressed about the end goal: “The end game is to win. I like winning.”
The warning follows unverified reports that Iranian authorities may use capital punishment against protesters on charges of “moharebeh,” or “waging war against God,” a harsh penalty under Iran’s legal code.
Rights groups and foreign media have raised alarms about possible executions, although Iranian officials have not publicly confirmed plans to hang detainees.
Trump also reiterated a message of support for protesters on his social media platform, saying “help is on its way,” and announced that he had cancelled all diplomatic meetings with Iranian officials until the violence subsides.
He stressed that the true scale of casualties remains uncertain but indicated that he expects clearer data soon. The crisis, rooted in anger over economic collapse and political repression, has seen mass demonstrations spread nationwide, met with a harsh security response.
Activist groups cite thousands of deaths—figures that are difficult to verify due to an ongoing internet blackout in parts of Iran.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has signalled that Tehran is “prepared for war” if the US seeks to test its resolve, though he also suggested the possibility of negotiations. Global concern continues to mount as international actors urge restraint and demand accountability for human rights violations.
Analysts say Trump’s ultimatum underscores rising US–Iran tensions and reflects broader geopolitical calculations as Washington grapples with whether to support protesters, impose punitive measures, or risk deeper confrontation in the Middle East.
