President Donald Trump on Tuesday called for anti-government demonstrators in Iran to seize control of the state, declaring that “help is on its way” while abruptly terminating all diplomatic contact with Tehran.

The president’s directive, issued via Truth Social, marks a major escalation in U.S. policy as the Islamic Republic faces its most violent internal crisis in decades.

"Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING"

In a morning post, the president urged citizens to escalate their uprising and occupy government buildings to dismantle the current leadership.

“Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING - TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY,” Trump wrote.

The administration did not elaborate on the specific nature of the promised "help." However, the statement follows a series of warnings from the president that the U.S. military is "locked and loaded" should the Iranian government continue its lethal crackdown. The diplomatic freeze is an abrupt reversal from earlier this week, when Trump suggested Tehran was privately seeking negotiations following U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June 2025.
