Alappuzha: The campus of Alappuzha TD Medical College was filled with grief and disbelief as five first-year MBBS students, who tragically died in a road accident, were brought back to the campus for their final goodbye. Students, classmates and teachers were left heartbroken as they saw their peers, once full of life, now lying in coffins, marking the end of their young dreams.

The postmortem was completed at 12 noon on Tuesday, and the bodies were brought to the medical college campus. The public homage has been arranged at the Central Library Hall, where friends, faculty, and other students gathered for a final farewell. The hearts of many were heavy with grief as the five young lives, who had just begun their medical journey, ended abrubtly.

The tragic accident occurred near Kalarcode on Monday night, leaving six other students injured and are currently undergoing treatment. Ministers Veena George, Saji Cherian, and P Prasad visited the college to offer condolences and ensure that arrangements were made for the transportation of the bodies. Ambulances have been prepared to take the students' remains back to their homes, accompanied by police escorts.

A solemn farewell

The bodies will be taken to their respective homes for burial, with the Lakshadweep native to be laid to rest in Ernakulam. The young students had only just embarked on their journey to becoming doctors, leaving behind family, friends, and classmates in profound sorrow.

The car was involved in a deadly crash on Monday night, killing five first-year MBBS students who were traveling in it. The victims of the accident are Ayush Shaji (19) from Kottayam, Shreedeep Vatsan (19) from Palakkad, B. Devanandan (19) from Malappuram, Mohammed Abdul Jabbar (19) from Kannur, and Mohammed Ibrahim (19) from Lakshadweep.
