
Thiruvananthapuram: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in northern Kerala on Tuesday. A red alert has been issued for Kozhikode, while an orange alert has been declared for Kannur and Kasaragod districts. A yellow alert has been issued for Malappuram and Wayanad districts. There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms in isolated areas of Kerala through Wednesday. The department also reported that Cyclone Fengal is expected to transform into a low-pressure area over northern Kerala and Karnataka by Tuesday, moving towards the Arabian Sea.

In the wake of the expected heavy rainfall, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has issued a safety warning. Falling tree branches may break electric lines, which could cause electric shocks. Residents are advised not to touch service wires, stay wires, or electricity posts. Any accidents should be reported immediately to the KSEB emergency number: 9496010101.
