In a cruel twist of fate, the five first-year MBBS students who lost their lives in a devastating car crash on Monday night will have their postmortem conducted at Alappuzha Medical College, the very institution where they had just begun their dreams of becoming doctors. The campus that was once filled with hope and excitement for these young students now bears the weight of grief as family and friends mourn their untimely deaths.

The tragic incident occurred late on Monday when the Tavera car in which they journeyed collided with a KSRTC bus near Alappuzha. Eyewitnesses describe the horrific scene: the car was traveling at high speed when it skidded and slammed into the bus. Three of the students died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital. The news has sent shockwaves through the medical college, where these bright, promising students had only just started their medical journey.

The victims of the accident are Ayush Shaji (19) from Kottayam, Shreedeep Vatsan (19) from Palakkad, B. Devanandan (19) from Malappuram, Mohammed Abdul Jabbar (19) from Kannur, and Mohammed Ibrahim (19) from Lakshadweep.

Their postmortem will take place at Vandanam Medical College, a moment marking the end of their short-lived yet hopeful aspirations. The bodies of the five students will be kept for public homage at 12 pm, allowing friends to pay their respects to those who had just begun their medical studies.
