Kochi: The Crime Branch unit of Kerala Police submitted the report on further probe in the Legislative Assembly ruckus case of 2015 involving six LDF leaders. The report was submitted to Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday.

Despite extending the probe, the Crime Branch failed to unearth any new findings in the case.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has also recommended registering cases on the basis of statements given by those female MLAs who were injured in the incident.

In July, the Crime Branch asked the court for permission to conduct further inquiries into the incident. The move from the Crime Branch came at a time when the court was set to announce the commencement of the trial proceedings in the case.

Following this, the court accepted the Crime Branch's request and gave two months to complete the probe. The opposition termed the Crime Branch's petition as the Government's move to prolong the trial.

LDF convener E.P. Jayarajan education minister V. Sivankutty, K. Kunhammad, K.T. Jaleel, C.K. Sadasivan, and K. Ajith are the accused in the case.

The case pertains to chaos in the Assembly on March 13, 2015, in order to prevent then-finance minister and UDF leader K.M. Mani from presenting the state budget. The opposition protested Mani's alleged involvement in the bar bribery case, leading to a brawl between elected members and causing damage worth over Rs 2 lakh.
