Thiruvananthapuram: Judicial First Class Magistrate Court here issued warrants against former MLAs of Congress, MA Vaheed and AT George, in the case of allegedly manhandling the former MLA of the Kuttiady constituency, KK Lathika.
The matters leading up to the case took place during the ruckus in the Assembly on March 13, 2015 over budget presentation.
The Assembly had witnessed complete mayhem on the aforementioned date as the LDF members, then in the opposition, tried to prevent Finance Minister K M Mani, who was facing charges in the bar bribery scam, from presenting the state budget. It was during this ruckus that KK Lathika was allegedly hit. The warrant was issued after both accused failed to turn up at court.
KK Lathika was allegedly hit while trying to overcome the counter-protest staged by UDF MLAs. MA Vaheed and AT George were MLAs of Kazhakuttom and Parassala constituencies, respectively.
Meanwhile, the court on Wednesday also framed the charges against the then LDF MLAs, including the current education minister, for damaging the properties of the Assembly during the ruckus.
