Palani: In a heartwarming display of community support, over 1,300 people gathered in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, to partake in a traditional ‘Moi Virundhu’ ceremony aimed at raising funds for victims of the recent landslides in Wayanad. The event was organised by K. Mujeeb Rahman, the proprietor of a local biryani hotel.

The ‘Moi Virundhu’ is a communal feast where attendees make donations, traditionally placed under a banana leaf or in a designated collection box. Rahman hosted this ‘Moi Virundhu’ to pool resources for those affected by the Wayanad landslide disaster.

Rahman's goal was to inspire residents of Dindigul to contribute to the relief efforts. The event was widely promoted on social media, attracting a substantial crowd, including women and children, to the evening meal.

Contributions ranged from Rs 100 to Rs 2,500, accumulating a total of Rs 3 lakh. Rahman announced that the full amount would be donated to the Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The collected funds will be handed over to the Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund on Tuesday.
