Palakkad: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has issued an advisory to single-phase electricity consumers whose connected load exceeds 5,000 watts, recommending a switch to a 3-phase connection. This move is aimed at ensuring the safety of electrical wiring and extending the lifespan of household appliances.
A 3-phase connection offers significant advantages over a single-phase system, especially in terms of power reliability. If a power interruption occurs in one phase, the other two phases can continue to supply electricity, thus preventing a total outage.

To make the transition easier for consumers, KSEB has introduced a convenient doorstep service for upgrading to a 3-phase connection. However, KSEB has also warned that single-phase consumers with a connected load above the 5,000-watt threshold who fail to make the switch could face penalties, including fines.
Consumers can request a phase change by calling the toll-free customer care number 1912, sending a WhatsApp message to 9496001912, or by directly contacting their local KSEB section office.
