Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president K Sudhakaran has lodged multiple complaints accusing DySP YR Rustom of fabricating a case against the MP, suggesting a political conspiracy orchestrated by the ruling CPM. Sudhakaran filed complaints with the Lok Sabha speaker, Parliament Ethics Committee, state police chief, and the Police Complaints Authority.

Sudhakaran was arrested in a fraud case involving fake antique dealer Monson Mavunkal by Rustom last month. He was released on bail on the same day.

The Congress leader contends that the "false charges" brought against him under the supervision of this officer are part of a "calculated attempt by the CPM" to undermine him as an MP. He further highlights the "presence of evidence" supporting these claims, as outlined in the complaint submitted to the POCSO sessions court in Ernakulam by Monson Mavunkal.

The alleged conspiracy unfolded on June 17 during the conviction of Monson Mavunkal in the POCSO case. DySP Rustom transported Monson in his vehicle, claiming that the presence of journalists necessitated this mode of transportation. Rustom told officers that food had been arranged at his office. However, the police officers accompanying them refuted this and informed DySP that the funds for food had been arranged from the jail. Despite the objection, DySP persisted, citing the journalists' presence as a reason to comply.

As he had to drop the plan, Rustom stopped the vehicle near an empty petrol pump close to the Kalamassery crime branch office. After making a phone call, he returned to the car and threatened Monson, insisting that he provide two false statements. These statements were meant to implicate Sudhakaran's presence at Monson’s house when the sexual assault happened and claim that Anoop (the complainant in the fraud case) had paid him Rs 25 lakh in Sudhakaran’s presence.

In response to Monson's refusal, Rustom subjected him to verbal abuse, brandished a gun, and threatened to file additional charges and take “revenge.” According to the complaint, police officers present at the court witnessed these events.

The following day, after the POCSO verdict, the 'Deshabhimani' published defamatory news against Sudhakaran by linking him to the POCSO case. CPM state secretary MV Govindan made accusations against Sudhakaran without verifying the authenticity of the claims, the MP said.

Sudhakaran asserts that the crime branch DySP who acted against him is merely a pawn in the hands of the CPM. Instead of engaging in ideological and political battles, false accusations are being made against him and other CPM opponents. Sudhakaran considers this conspiracy against him by the CPM and the abuse he endured from MV Govindan as the embodiment of political decay and degeneration. He vowed to continue the legal battle against Govindan and the police, confident that the truth will ultimately prevail.
