Heavy monsoon rain has disrupted academic schedules across Pune, with several schools opting for online classes while others plan Saturday sessions to make up for teaching days lost due to weather-related closures.

Pune: Heavy monsoon showers continue to disrupt normal life in Pune, prompting several schools to alter their academic schedules after district authorities declared holidays on Monday and Tuesday.
While some institutions have resumed learning through virtual classrooms on July 8, others have decided to compensate for the lost teaching days by holding classes on upcoming Saturdays.
The school closures were ordered by Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi for schools under the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits, along with seven talukas, following persistent rainfall and weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
To minimise academic disruption, several private schools have switched to online learning.

Bishop's School in Undri informed parents that classes would continue through Microsoft Teams, while unit tests scheduled during the closure have been deferred until regular classroom teaching resumes.
The school expects offline classes to restart on Wednesday, subject to fresh instructions from the administration.
St Mary's School has also introduced virtual classes for students from Classes 5 to 12, while younger children have been assigned worksheets to complete from home.
Not every school has opted for digital learning. Sanskriti School has decided against online classes and will instead recover the missed lessons by conducting classes on a non-working Saturday.
Similarly, the Kalyani School is holding online sessions but has ruled out Saturday compensatory classes, saying attendance on weekends is generally low.
Meanwhile, Jnana Prabodhini School has declared a complete holiday for students.
Instead of regular classes, teachers have been asked to complete professional training modules on the Union Education Ministry's DIKSHA platform.
The school has also decided against scheduling extra classes, citing its longer academic calendar and fewer holidays compared to most institutions.
