Strong winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph are also expected in some areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alerts for four districts in Kerala, warning of isolated heavy rainfall over the next two days. The forecast is important for both residents and travellers planning to visit the state, particularly those heading to hill stations and northern districts.
Despite the rain warning, no weather-related holiday has been announced for schools or colleges on Thursday (July 23) or the days ahead.
Yellow alerts for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod
According to the IMD, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are under a yellow alert on Wednesday (July 22). On Thursday (July 23), the alert will remain in force for Kannur and Kasaragod.
A yellow alert signifies the likelihood of isolated heavy rainfall, with rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
Thunderstorms and gusty winds likely
The weather office has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places across Kerala on July 22 and July 23. Strong winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph are also expected in some areas.
Residents are advised to exercise caution during periods of lightning and strong winds. Travellers, especially those planning road journeys through hilly terrain or visiting destinations such as Wayanad, should keep track of the latest weather updates before setting out.
No holiday declared yet
As of now, no district administration has announced a rain-related holiday for schools or colleges on July 23 or subsequent days.
The weather situation remains subject to change, and the IMD may update its forecasts as conditions evolve. District collectors could announce holidays in areas experiencing severe weather, depending on local conditions.
Students, parents and travellers have been advised to rely only on official updates issued by the IMD, district administrations and educational institutions for information on school holidays, travel conditions and any weather-related advisories.
