What is self-enumeration in Census 2027?
Self-enumeration allows citizens to submit household and demographic information digitally instead of waiting for physical visits from census officials.
The process is aimed at making the census exercise faster, more accurate and technologically efficient while reducing administrative workload during field operations.
The first phase of Census 2027 in Maharashtra began on May 1 and will continue until May 15.
This will be followed by the house listing and housing census phase from May 16 to June 14.
Census 2027 expected to be major digital exercise
Census 2027 is expected to become one of India’s largest digitally assisted population data collection exercises.
Authorities across multiple states are encouraging citizens to adopt self-enumeration systems to improve efficiency and reduce delays in the census process.
The data collected through the census plays a major role in government planning, welfare schemes, infrastructure allocation, policy decisions and development programmes across the country.
