Exit poll trends

The 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, conducted in two phases under an unusually heavy security presence, head into counting day with exit polls signalling a closely fought contest between the TMC and the BJP. A combined reading of multiple surveys places both parties in a dead heat at roughly 145 seats each, with smaller groups expected to pick up no more than four seats.

However, individual pollsters offer sharply different outlooks. Chanakya Strategies projects a narrow advantage for the BJP, estimating 150 to 160 seats for the party and 130 to 140 for the TMC. People’s Pulse, by contrast, anticipates a decisive win for the TMC, giving it between 177 and 187 seats while placing the BJP in the 95 to 110 range. Matrize’s forecast sits between the two, suggesting the BJP could secure 146 to 161 seats and the TMC between 125 and 140.
