Closure report findings
The closure report by Malvani police, who investigated the case, was submitted to a superior officer as per the rules governing accidental death reports on February 4, 2021.
The official said that, as part of the investigation, police recorded statements from Disha’s friends and several witnesses. The findings indicated that she was depressed due to a combination of failed projects, misunderstandings with friends, and the alleged financial misuse by her father.
Additionally, the police recorded statements from actors with whom Disha had been communicating on behalf of her company.
Political controversy and Special Investigation Team
The case became a point of contention between political parties, leading the Mumbai Police to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further scrutiny. However, the SIT’s report is still awaited.
Father seeks fresh probe
Last week, Disha’s father, Satish Salian, filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, seeking a fresh investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
He also urged the court to direct the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and requested the transfer of the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
