Japanese aircraft interiors major JAMCO Corporation has announced plans to establish a new Product Engineering Centre in Bengaluru, further strengthening Karnataka’s position as one of India’s leading aerospace manufacturing hubs.

The Karnataka Commerce and Industries Department confirmed that the proposed centre will significantly expand JAMCO’s engineering presence in the State and support its growing operations in India’s fast-expanding aviation market.

A delegation led by JAMCO’s Chief Operating Officer, Sanjeev Sen, and Board Chair, Kate Schaefer, met with Industries Commissioner Gunjan Krishna to discuss the investment. Following the meeting, the Commissioner formally announced the company’s decision to set up the centre in Bengaluru.

The upcoming facility will focus on the complete development of aircraft interior components for global aviation giants such as Boeing and Airbus. This includes designing, engineering and supporting cabin products used in commercial aircraft around the world.

Aircraft interiors, including seats, galleys, lavatories and other cabin systems, are an important part of modern aviation, especially as airlines increasingly invest in passenger comfort and brand differentiation.

Karnataka, and particularly Bengaluru, has long been recognised as India’s aerospace capital. The State hosts a strong ecosystem of aerospace manufacturers, engineering companies, research institutions and skilled professionals.

Officials highlighted that Karnataka’s large pool of trained engineers and its well-established industrial infrastructure continue to attract global aerospace companies. JAMCO’s decision is seen as another endorsement of the State’s capabilities in high-precision manufacturing and aviation engineering.

The investment also reflects confidence in India’s rapidly growing aviation sector. With air travel demand rising steadily, the need for aircraft manufacturing, maintenance and interior upgrades is also increasing.

State officials noted that the new engineering centre will contribute to the development of globally certified aerospace products and strengthen Karnataka’s role in international aviation supply chains.

Kate Schaefer praised the Government of Karnataka for its continued support and emphasised JAMCO’s confidence in the State’s aerospace leadership.

With this move, Karnataka further consolidates its position as a key destination for aerospace manufacturing and innovation, supporting both domestic growth and global aviation programmes.
