Actor Vikrant Massey has put an end to speculation linking him to filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the epic Ramayana, stating clearly that he was never part of the project.

Reports had earlier suggested that Massey had been replaced by actor Raghav Juyal in the role of Meghanad, the eldest son of Ravana and the crown prince of Lanka. However, the National Award-winning actor dismissed these claims as baseless.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Massey clarified, “OK. To put the rumours to rest, I was never a part of Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana'." "The many media portals reporting about my supposed ‘replacement’ should've done the requisite background check. Disappointing. Nonetheless, wishing everyone a part of the movie, all the very best," added the National Award-winning actor.

Tiwari’s Ramayana is being developed as one of the largest-scale productions in Indian cinema. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Sunny Deol essaying Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey playing Lakshman.

Backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and DNEG, in collaboration with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part live-action saga will release globally in IMAX. The first instalment is scheduled for Diwali 2026, with the second part arriving in theatres during Diwali 2027.

Meanwhile, Massey will be seen in a special appearance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film O'Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor. He is also set to feature in the Netflix series Musafir Cafe and White, a biographical drama centred on spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
