UCC must unite, not divide; should be framed with consensus: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said the Uniform Civil Code should be framed by taking everyone into confidence and must not lead to differences.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) must be framed through broad consultation and should not become a source of division.
Speaking at an interaction held to mark the RSS’s centenary, Bhagwat emphasised the need to take all sections of society into confidence while shaping the UCC.

Commenting on the recent India–US trade pact, he noted that international agreements involve mutual compromise. “It should be win-win...we have to ensure we are not at a loss,” he said.
On the demand to confer the Bharat Ratna on Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar, Bhagwat remarked that the honour’s stature would be enhanced if Savarkar were awarded the country’s highest civilian decoration.
He also reflected on the organisation’s journey, saying that the “achche din” (good days) for the RSS were the result of sustained efforts by its volunteers and their steadfast commitment to ideological principles.
