As the Union Finance Minister prepares to present the Union Budget 2026 in Parliament on Sunday at 11:00 AM, senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor said he is keenly watching for concrete announcements on youth employment generation and support for Kerala.

Speaking ahead of the budget presentation, Tharoor said the country urgently needs robust job-creation schemes, especially for young people entering the workforce.

“Looking forward to hearing what FM has to say about schemes to generate more jobs for youth; looking forward to what benefits the central govt gives Kerala: Shashi Tharoor on Union Budget 2026,” Tharoor said.

He also expressed hope that the central government will extend meaningful benefits to Kerala, particularly in the form of development support and welfare allocations.

The Union Budget 2026 is expected to outline the government’s roadmap for economic growth, employment, infrastructure development, and social welfare, with stakeholders across sectors closely watching for policy measures that could shape the country’s economic direction in the coming year.

Finance Minister Sitharaman arrived at Rashtrapati Bhavan earlier on Sunday to meet President Droupadi Murmu with her signature "bahi-khata", a tablet with a golden national emblem on it wrapped in red cloth.
