Bhubaneswar is taking a major step toward sustainable urban living with smart public infrastructure designed for everyday convenience and cleaner surroundings. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has introduced solar-powered smart benches across the city, combining renewable energy with practical public use.

The benches provide free mobile charging facilities and comfortable seating, making them especially useful for students, commuters and residents. Integrated lighting also allows people to use these spaces after sunset.

Alongside the smart benches, authorities have installed pole-mounted dust control systems at key city locations to help reduce airborne dust and improve urban air quality.

Officials say these initiatives are part of Bhubaneswar’s broader strategy to create a climate-resilient, commuter-friendly and environmentally conscious city. By blending clean energy with smart public services, the city is redefining how urban spaces can become more efficient, accessible and sustainable for the future.
