Why Bikaner's famous Baba Kachori is known as the 'Medical Kachori’
Bikaner's 74-year-old Baba Kachori, known as the 'Medical Kachori,' still serves three delicious moong kachoris for just ₹10.
Across the road from Bikaner's busiest PBM Hospital stands Baba Kachori, a legendary food shop that has been serving its signature snack since 1952. Popularly known as the "Medicated Kachori", the outlet is famous among doctors, hospital staff and locals for its unique recipe and affordable price.
Owner Kishanlal Sankhi says the family recipe uses specially ground whole moong instead of chana dal, with asafoetida added for easy digestion. The kachoris are fried in fresh groundnut oil every day, with the oil never reused, helping maintain quality and taste.
