Jharkhand government initiative helps women build sustainable livelihoods
Jharkhand’s women and youth are gaining self-employment skills through bamboo and woodcraft training to build sustainable livelihoods.
Jharkhand’s rural economy is receiving a boost through skill development, women empowerment, and self-employment initiatives led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s government. Under the Chief Minister Small and Cottage Enterprise Development Board, training programmes are helping women and youth build sustainable livelihoods and create new income opportunities.
In Mangura village of Ichak Block in Hazaribagh district, women are taking part in a seven-day woodcraft training programme conducted by Vishwakarma Industrial Self-Reliant Cooperative Society Limited. Participants are learning to create practical and decorative products while developing entrepreneurial skills.

In Hadari village, a fifteen-day bamboo craftsmanship training program under the Tool Kit Distribution Scheme is equipping women to make fruit baskets, trays, and utility products.
Participants receive a daily stipend of ₹180, food support, and toolkits after completion—creating a pathway toward financial independence and a self-reliant rural Jharkhand.
