Uttar Pradesh’s ODOC scheme boosts traditional foods, helping local cuisines gain recognition, expand markets and reach global audiences.
Uttar Pradesh is strengthening its culinary identity through the One District, One Cuisine (ODOC) scheme, an initiative designed to promote traditional foods, local entrepreneurs and regional food heritage across national and global markets. Introduced under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the programme focuses on branding, packaging and expanding market access for district-specific delicacies. In Lucknow, mango-based products, revdi and the city’s famous chaat have been selected under ODOC, creating fresh business opportunities and increasing demand for long-established local food makers.

Officials say the initiative will help producers improve presentation, expand operations and explore export possibilities. Barabanki is also witnessing growth after Chandrakala sweets and Lal Peda were included in the scheme, bringing wider recognition and stronger sales. Through ODOC, Uttar Pradesh aims to preserve traditional flavours while transforming local cuisine into a globally recognised identity.
