As anticipation for Vijay's final film 'Jana Nayagan' reaches fever pitch, Tiruppur's knitwear factories are buzzing with nonstop production, turning cotton into a celebration of cinema, fandom and nostalgia.

In Tiruppur these days, the loudest blockbuster isn't playing inside a cinema hall. It's humming away inside garment factories, where sewing machines are racing the clock, workers are skipping breathers, and piles of freshly printed Vijay T-shirts are growing by the hour.
With just days left for the release of 'Jana Nayagan', believed to be Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's final film before fully embracing politics, the state's textile capital has transformed into the unofficial costume department for one giant farewell party.
Across more than 700 knitwear units, customised T-shirts carrying Vijay's portrait, the film's title and fan slogans are rolling off production lines as orders pour in from every corner of Tamil Nadu, along with neighbouring Kerala and Karnataka.
'We haven't seen this kind of excitement in years,' said garment manufacturer K Seva Nathan, adding that printers have doubled their shifts to ensure deliveries reach fan clubs before the July 23 release.
For many workers, the assignment is far more personal than a business order. Several are Vijay admirers themselves, making every print and every stitch feel like a tribute rather than just another day's work.
K Prabakaran of the Tiruppur Textile Unit Association said factories have been working overtime ever since the release date was confirmed.
To keep pace with the demand, manufacturers are also offering courier services and cash-on-delivery options across the state.
The frenzy is not limited to factory floors. Chennai-based fan Jayanth said his fan club alone has ordered 500 customised T-shirts from Tiruppur ahead of the premiere.
'For us, this isn't just a movie release. It's a historic cultural event,' he said.
The excitement comes after 'Jana Nayagan' overcame months of hurdles, including certification delays, legal disputes and an online leak, before finally securing its July 23 release.
Film trade sources expect the big-ticket entertainer to open in around 1,000 theatres across Tamil Nadu, setting the stage for what many fans see as an emotional goodbye to one of Tamil cinema's biggest stars.
By the time the first show begins, it won't just be theatres dressed for the occasion. Thanks to Tiruppur, an entire state may well be wearing its fandom on its sleeve.
