Shwetha Menon expresses shock & sorrow over Sreenivasan’s passing, recalling their final conversation and his lasting legacy in Malayalam cinema

Actor and president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) Shwetha Menon on Saturday expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran filmmaker and actor Sreenivasan, saying she had no idea their recent interaction would be their final conversation.
The 51-year-old actress shared her grief in a heartfelt Facebook post. Expressing her emotions, Shwetha Menon wrote, “A few days ago, when I spoke to you, I had no idea that would be our last conversation.” She said she was still finding it difficult to come to terms with the loss and acknowledged that she remained in shock over his passing.
“I’m still in shock. I can’t believe you’re gone. I honestly don’t know what to say,” she wrote, reflecting the disbelief felt by many in the Malayalam film industry.
In her post, she also spoke about the personal void left behind by Sreenivasan’s death. “Going to miss you, Sreeniyetta,” she said, using an affectionate name by which he was known among colleagues and friends.
Shwetha Menon concluded her tribute by highlighting his lasting legacy. “You’ll live on through your work, and in our hearts, always,” she wrote.
Sreenivasan, one of the most influential figures in Malayalam cinema as an actor, screenwriter and director, passed away at the Tripunithura Taluk Hospital. He was 69.
He had been facing health issues and had undergone heart surgery in 2022.
Sreenivasan was travelling for dialysis at a private hospital in Kochi when he developed breathing difficulties and was shifted to the Government Taluk Hospital, Tripunithura.
According to hospital authorities, he passed away at around 8.30 am.
His two sons, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan, are also actors in the Malayalam film industry. He is survived by his wife Vimala and their two sons.
