Kochi: The day Dhyan Sreenivasan turned 37 became one of deep personal loss, as news arrived that his father, veteran actor and writer Sreenivasan, had passed away on Saturday morning. Sreenivasan had been undergoing treatment at his residence in Udayamperoor for a long-term illness.

Dhyan was not in the city when the incident occurred. He lives in Kochi with his wife and child, along with Sreenivasan and other family members. The news reached him while he was away in Kozhikode for a film shoot, and by the time he returned home, those around him said he was overwhelmed by grief.

Sreenivasan was widely known for expressing his views openly and without restraint. Dhyan, too, has carried that trait forward, speaking his mind even when his opinions invite strong reactions.

There was a time when Sreenivasan openly criticised actor Mohanlal and did not hesitate to voice his displeasure. In a recent interview, Dhyan spoke about a moment of reconciliation. He revealed that his father had visited Mohanlal on a film set and personally apologised for his earlier criticism.

Dhyan has never hidden the difficulties in his relationship with his father during his younger days. He once left home following a serious disagreement linked to his personal habits and stayed away for a long period. With time, those wounds healed, and the distance between them disappeared.

Dhyan had frequently spoken about a long-cherished wish to act in a film alongside his father and Mohanlal. His brother and filmmaker Vineeth Sreenivasan also reflected on the same thought. He said that after working years later with Dhyan and Pranav Mohanlal, the first idea that came to his mind was a project bringing together Mohanlal and Sreenivasan.
