Malayalam cinema fans are abuzz as superstar Mammootty completes dubbing for the highly anticipated thriller 'Patriot', joining Mohanlal in a film that promises action, intrigue, and star-studded performances.

The makers of Patriot announced that Mammootty has finished dubbing his portions, confirming that both Malayalam superstars are now fully on board. The update was shared via the film’s official Instagram handle, highlighting the film’s worldwide release set for April 23, 2026.

Mohanlal wraps his portions earlier

Earlier, Mohanlal had completed dubbing his parts. The team shared a video of Mohanlal giving a thumbs-up after recording his dialogues, showcasing the actor’s excitement and involvement.

A BTS video released by the makers showed filming at a Sri Lankan airbase, featuring helicopters, planes, and fighter aircraft. Both Mohanlal and Mammootty were seen on the airbase, marking their first collaboration in 18 years. Fahadh Faasil was also spotted in a fighter jet cockpit, underlining his role as the film’s antagonist.

Fahadh Faasil confirmed on stage at a recent event that he plays the villain in Patriot. He also teased a sequel to his previous film, 'Aavesham 2', expected around 2027 or 2028.

Star-studded ensemble

In addition to Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Fahadh, the film features acclaimed actors Nayanthara, Kunchacko Boban, and Revathy, creating high expectations among fans.

The shooting of the film was completed on January 4, 2026, with the makers sharing BTS clips of the stars celebrating the wrap.

The teaser released last year hints at a plot revolving around a secretive program called Periscope. Scenes suggest the story focuses on socially responsible individuals challenging illegal government surveillance. Key dialogue includes Mammootty asking, "Great Indian traitor... or Patriot," setting the tone for the film’s suspenseful narrative.

Patriot is scheduled for a global release on April 23, 2026, and is expected to be a major cinematic event for Malayalam cinema, bringing two legends together after nearly two decades.
