Kochi: Malayalam actress Anjukrishna Ashok has issued a strong clarification after reports and social media posts falsely linked her to a recent drug-related arrest in Chennai, triggering widespread confusion due to a similarity in names.

On Saturday, the police, along with AINU, cracked down on a drug network in Chennai and arrested nine persons, including a supporting actress, in connection with the seizure. The seized drugs include Methamphetamine.

Anjukrishna said her photographs were being wrongly used and tagged in connection with the case, causing severe mental distress to her and her family. She addressed the issue through a statement posted on social media.

“IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION. I would like to clearly state that I am NOT the actress involved in the recent arrest case reported in the media.
Due to the coincidence of having the same name, my pictures are being wrongly used, tagged, and associated with this issue. This has caused serious mental distress to me and my family, and this is not a matter to be taken lightly.
I hereby request all media pages, portals, and individuals to immediately remove my pictures, tags, posts, and any references that wrongly link me to this incident. Please verify identities properly before tagging or sharing content.
If this confusion and misrepresentation continue, I will be forced to file a formal complaint and pursue legal action to protect my reputation.
Please act responsibly and stop spreading misinformation,” Anjukrishna Ashok wrote on Instagram.
