Amid the ongoing controversies surrounding the film Empuraan, producer Antony Perumbavoor addressed the situation while speaking to Mathrubhumi News. He confirmed that, in response to the backlash, only two minutes and a few seconds of the film had been cut. Perumbavoor expressed optimism that this adjustment would help resolve the issues, and the film would soon be re-released with the edited version.

Perumbavoor also shared his excitement about the movie’s massive success, revealing that L2: Empuraan has crossed the 200 crore mark at the global box office. He stressed that this milestone was a major achievement for the Mollywood industry, especially since the focus had traditionally been on the 100 crore club. “We are thrilled that the movie has reached the 200 crore milestone,” he said, acknowledging the success despite the ongoing controversies.

When asked about Mohanlal’s apology regarding the controversial content, Perumbavoor chose not to comment. He did, however, express confidence that the cutting of the two-minute portion would put an end to the controversy. "Once the edits are made, the controversies will cease. We are hopeful that the edited version will be released soon, as we are just dealing with some technicalities," he explained, expressing optimism that the revised version would be available by the evening.

Regarding the film’s portrayal of sensitive issues, Perumbavoor explained, “We live in a society, and as movie creators, we have to walk with the people. We have to listen to what others have to say, and based on that, we are making adjustments. That’s our duty. It is not a very big problem. We are happy with the movie, and people are loving it. We’ve crossed 200 crore worldwide, and we are happy with that.”

He further added that the backlash was being taken positively, with no ill feelings.

On the matter of Murali Gopy, the film’s writer, not responding to the controversy, Perumbavoor stated that questions about Gopy’s stance should be directed at him. He also addressed the backlash against director and actor Prithviraj, stating that the decision to proceed with the controversial content was a group decision, not an individual one.

“It’s our collective decision, not just Prithviraj’s,” Perumbavoor explained. “There’s no need to target him specifically. The decision was made as a group, with no influence by any particular person.” Regarding Murali Gopy’s silence, Perumbavoor clarified that Gopy is part of the group decision, even if he hasn’t publicly shared Mohanlal’s apology. “I believe Murali Gopy is with us on this,” he said.

Despite the controversies, L2: Empuraan continues to enjoy a positive reception from audiences and substantial box-office success.
