
The National Scholarships Portal serves as a one-stop solution platform that streamlines the entire scholarship process, including student applications, receipt, processing, approval, and disbursal. It operates as a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), ensuring efficient and transparent scholarship management for students.
Eligibility
NSP Pre-Matric Scholarship
- Students must have secured more than 50 percent marks in the previous final examination.
- The annual income of parents/guardians from all sources must not exceed Rs 1 lakh.
NSP Post-Matric Scholarship
- Students must secure 50 percent marks or equivalent in the final examination.
- The annual income of parents/guardians should exceed Rs 2.5 lakhs.
Merit Cum Means Scholarship for Professional & Technical Courses CS
- Students must have secured more than 50 percent marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination.
- Annual income of parents/guardians from all sources must not exceed Rs 2.50 lakhs.
Steps to apply
- Visit the website: https://scholarships.gov.in/.
- Click on the New Registration button.
- Read the guidelines carefully for registration on the National Scholarship Portal.
- Click checkboxes and click on the Continue button.
- A new page requesting to enter the personal data will be displayed. Fill out the student registration form.
- Click on the checkboxes for Aadhar consent, bank account, and application form.
- After entering all required details, click on the Register button.
- The student registration ID will be displayed. Note down the student registration ID number for further reference and enquiries.
- Click on the Continue button. It will take you to the login page.
- The login ID and password to log into the NSP portal will be your application ID and DOB, respectively.
- After logging in, the student will get an OTP of 5 digits on the registered mobile number/email ID.
- Confirm OTP. It will take you to the Change Password page. Change your password as per instructions on the same page.
- Click the Application Form button and enter the below details:

- Academic Details
- Other Details
- After entering the above details, click on Save & Continue to switch on to the next page.
- The applicant is directed to see the next page for Contact Details & Scheme Details.
- Enter your contact details.
Based on the eligibility criteria of the student, schemes will be displayed.
Select “PRE-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEMES MINORITIES CS” for pre-matric courses I to X.
Select “POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEMES MINORITIES CS" for post-matric courses.
Select “MERIT CUM MEANS SCHOLARSHIP SCHEMES MINORITIES CS” for Merit Cum Means courses.
- After selecting the scheme, on the same page, the Upload Document section will be displayed; upload your documents therein (MCM / Top Class Students only).
Upload of documents is not required for pre- and post-matriculation scholarships.
- Re-check all your entries and uploaded documents before finally submitting the application, as there will be no provision to amend, edit, or alter it thereafter.
- Click on Final Submit. Take a print by clicking the print button for further reference and as an acknowledgement.
Documents required
- Aadhaar card: A copy of your Aadhaar card to verify your identity and date of birth.
- Bank passbook: A copy of your current bank passbook that shows your account number and IFSC code.
- Income certificate: A certificate from a government authority or your income tax return that shows your family's gross income.
- Mark sheet: A copy of your last qualifying exam mark sheet
- Caste certificate: A valid caste certificate, if applicable
- Domicile certificate: A domicile certificate, if applicable
- Bonafide certificate: A bonafide certificate from your school or institution, if applicable.
- Recent passport-size photo
- Enrolment number
- Fee receipt number
