
e-Shram, an initiative by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, aims to create an Aadhaar-authenticated comprehensive national database of unorganised workers (NDUW) across the country.
Category of unorganised workers covered
- Construction worker
- Migrant worker
- Gig and platform worker
- Street vendor
- Domestic worker
- Agriculture worker
- Other unorganised workers
Eligibility for e-Shram Card
- Any unorganised worker or any person working in the unorganised sector.
- Workers should be aged between 16-59 years.
- Workers should have a valid mobile number linked with the Aadhaar card.
- Workers should not be income tax payers.
Documents required for e-Shram card
- Aadhaar card.
- Mobile number linked with Aadhaar card.
- Bank account.
- Passport-size photograph
Steps for e-Shram card registration
You can apply either through the official e-Shram portal or by visiting a Common Service Centre (CSC). To find a nearby CSC, use the locator available on the e-Shram portal by entering your state and district.
- Visit the portal: open https://eshram.gov.in/
- Provide your Aadhaar-linked mobile number along with the captcha code, then click on the Send OTP button.
- Enter your Aadhaar number, check the terms and conditions, and input the OTP you received on your mobile. Click on the Validate button.
- Confirm that the personal details displayed are correct. Provide necessary information, such as your address, educational qualifications, etc.
- Choose your skill name, the nature of your business, and type of work.
- Input your bank account details as required.
- Select the appropriate self-declaration option.
- Tap the preview option to review all the information entered.
- Click on the submit button.
- An OTP will be sent to your mobile number. Enter it and click Verify.
- Your e-Shram card will be generated and displayed on the screen.
- Click on the download option to save a copy of your e-Shram card.
Steps to download an e-Shram card
Follow these steps to download the e-Shram card:
- Visit the e-Shram portal
- Click on the Already Registered tab and select the Update Profile using UAN option.
- Enter the UAN number, date of birth, and captcha code, and click on the Generate OTP button.
- Enter the OTP received on the mobile number and click on the validate button.
- Confirm the personal details that appear on the screen.
- Tap the Preview option to verify the details entered, and click on the Submit button.
- An OTP will be sent to the mobile number. Enter the OTP and click on the Verify button.
- The e-Shram card is generated and displayed on the screen. The e-Shram card can also be downloaded by clicking on the download option.
