Allegations of a NEET 2026 paper leak have triggered nationwide concern, with questions were rising over whether the exam could be cancelled or re-conducted.

New Delhi: The NEET (UG) 2026 examination has been officially cancelled following serious allegations of a paper leak, triggering a nationwide investigation into the conduct of the medical entrance test.
According to preliminary findings, a handwritten question set that reportedly circulated in Rajasthan before the exam on 3 May 2026 showed significant overlap with questions that appeared in the actual paper. This raised concerns over the integrity of the examination process.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), along with the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG), has launched a detailed investigation to determine how the alleged leak occurred and whether organised malpractice was involved.
Authorities are also examining how the document was circulated through coaching centres and student networks ahead of the exam, and whether it reached a wider group of candidates.
In an official statement posted on its social media handle, the NTA confirmed the cancellation and said the decision was taken after coordination with central agencies and law enforcement authorities. It stated that the examination process could not be allowed to stand in its current form.
The agency further confirmed that the NEET (UG) 2026 exam will be re-conducted, with fresh dates to be announced separately. Admit cards will also be reissued through official channels.
The government has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter, and the NTA said it will fully cooperate by providing all required records and support.
Officials said the decision was taken in the interest of maintaining fairness and trust in the national examination system, even though it may cause inconvenience to candidates and families.
The NTA also clarified that registration details, exam centres, and candidature from the earlier cycle will remain valid, and no fresh application or additional fee will be required. Existing fees will be refunded, and the re-exam will be conducted using internal resources.
Authorities have urged candidates and parents to rely only on official updates and avoid unverified information circulating on social media as the investigation continues.
