At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, Apple unveiled watchOS 26, the latest version of its smartwatch operating system. Scheduled to arrive later this year, the update will only be available on all Apple Watch models currently running watchOS 10.

Apple has officially confirmed that watchOS 26 will be compatible with the Apple Watch Series 6 and newer. One of the standout additions is a redesigned interface powered by Liquid Glass, offering a fresh visual experience across the Smart Stack, Control Centre, notifications, and app navigation. The Photos watch face now includes numbers rendered in Liquid Glass, enhancing image clarity and style.

To use watchOS 26, users must pair their supported Apple Watch with an iPhone 11 or newer, running iOS 26. This requirement means devices older than the iPhone 11, such as the iPhone X and earlier models, will not support the update—even if the Apple Watch itself is compatible.

The first developer beta of watchOS 26 is currently available, with a public beta expected to roll out next month. The official release is anticipated later in the year.
