Washington, D.C.: Days after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was captured by US forces and flown to New York to face drug trafficking and weapons charges, the White House released a viral video mocking his past defiance.

The 61-second clip, shared on X on Sunday, highlights Maduro’s fiery challenge to US President Donald Trump in August, when he had openly dared the US leader to arrest him. Speaking from the Miraflores Presidential Palace, Maduro had said, “Come get me. I will wait for him here in Miraflores. Don’t be late, coward.”

The montage juxtaposed footage of Maduro’s taunts with clips from the pre-dawn raid on his residence at Fort Tiuna, Caracas, and excerpts from Trump’s press briefing.

Sharing the video on X, The White House wrote, “Nicolas Maduro had his chance — until he didn’t.”

The video comes as a follow-up to the shocking Saturday operation in which Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were reportedly asleep inside the high-security military compound when US forces captured them. Both now face narco-terrorism, cocaine import, and illegal weapons charges in the US and are being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
