The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have carried out a series of large-scale airstrikes in Tehran, targeting key sites linked to Iran’s nuclear weapons programme.

Under the direction of Military Intelligence, Israeli Air Force jets struck multiple high-value locations, including the Iranian Ministry of Defence headquarters, the SPND (Organisation of Defensive Innovation and Research), and several other facilities believed to support Iran’s efforts to acquire a nuclear weapon.

According to Israeli sources, the targeted sites were used to conceal parts of Iran’s nuclear archive and play a significant role in advancing its nuclear capabilities.

The latest strikes came just days after a surprise Israeli attack aimed at crippling Tehran’s rapidly advancing nuclear programme. Explosions echoed across Tehran as Iranian missiles entered Israeli airspace, hitting a residential building in the Galilee region and causing casualties.

While casualty figures in Iran remain unclear, Israel confirmed its air raids struck the Defence Ministry and several sites linked to Iran’s nuclear activities. Iranian state media reported explosions in both eastern and western Tehran, describing the city as “burning.” The paramilitary Revolutionary Guard warned of further missile launches if Israeli attacks continue, claiming they targeted Israeli jet fuel production facilities.

In Israel, emergency services reported one woman killed and over a dozen injured in a missile strike on a two-storey home in the north. Following the attacks, Israeli authorities allowed residents to leave shelters within the hour.

The ongoing conflict has disrupted planned negotiations between Iran and the United States over Tehran’s nuclear programme, with talks cancelled amid rising tensions. A senior US official expressed hope that Iran would return to the negotiating table soon, but uncertainty remains over how or when the violence might end.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed his commitment to halting Iran’s nuclear ambitions, warning that the recent strikes were “nothing compared to what they will feel” in the coming days. Israeli military sources claim the attacks have killed several senior Iranian generals and top nuclear scientists. Iran’s UN ambassador, however, put the death toll at 78, with over 320 wounded.
