Dubai: Powerful explosions rattled buildings in central Dubai on Friday morning as the UAE’s air defence systems successfully intercepted a "hostile aerial threat" over the city’s skyline. The incident sent plumes of smoke into the air and triggered emergency sirens across the city’s main financial and residential hubs.

The Dubai Media Office confirmed the event shortly after witnesses reported feeling buildings shake. "Authorities confirm that debris from a successful interception caused a minor incident on the façade of a building in central Dubai. No injuries have been reported," the official statement read.

Sirens blared along Sheikh Zayed Road, the city's primary artery. The interception comes just 24 hours after a drone crashed near Dubai’s financial district on Thursday, a move that prompted major international firms to begin evacuations of non-essential staff.
