Seven people were killed and nine others injured after a minibus crashed into a truck that had stopped on Emirates Road in Dubai following a technical malfunction, according to Dubai Police.

Oman: A devastating road accident on Dubai's Emirates Road claimed eight lives, including six Indian nationals, after a speeding minibus rammed into the rear of a truck that had reportedly stopped on the highway due to a technical malfunction.
According to Dubai Police, the truck had come to a halt in the middle of the road following a mechanical failure. Preliminary investigations suggest the minibus driver failed to maintain a safe distance and could not stop in time, resulting in a deadly collision.
The minibus was carrying 16 people, including the driver, at the time of the accident. Eight people died in the crash, while eight others sustained injuries. Among those injured, two are reported to be Indian nationals. Officials said four victims remain in critical condition, while the others suffered serious injuries and are receiving treatment in hospital.
Emergency teams, traffic patrols and rescue personnel rushed to the scene immediately after receiving reports of the accident. Authorities later restored traffic flow on Emirates Road after clearing the crash site and completing initial rescue operations.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said specialist teams are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the collision.
The accident has renewed concerns over road safety on high-speed highways in the UAE. Dubai Police urged motorists to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and reminded drivers to maintain safe following distances, particularly when travelling on major highways where sudden breakdowns can create dangerous situations.
